Beyond the Sea, a new book of short stories by Lisa Selvidge reveals some of the other things that went on in the Algarve in the summer of 2007 when a little girl went missing…
Algarve-based author, Lisa Selvidge, editor of Summer Times in the Algarve: A Collection of Writings and author of the novel The Last Dance Over the Berlin Wall, has a new book of short stories about the Algarve coming out at the end of May. Beyond the Sea will be available at the Griffin Bookshop in Almancil and Lisa will be signing copies of her new book and giving a reading on June 24 from 6pm to 8pm.
Lisa is a creative writing tutor, teaching online courses for Oxford, East Anglia and York Universities and running workshops in the Algarve. We are delighted to host her at this event and look forward to hearing her talk about the process of creative writing. Refreshments will be served and all are welcome.
‘Lisa Selvidge has brilliantly captured the essence of life in the Algarve, delving beneath the charming white-washed exterior to express a darker side to life in the sun for locals, ex-pats and tourist. Beyond the Sea is a bitter-sweet portrayal of on-goings that are not only fascinating, but unsettlingly realistic – like peeking through the neighbour’s window. I thoroughly enjoyed it.’ Carrie-Marie Bratley, The Portugal News
